Harmonica player coming from the blues
Originally from eastern France, Phil Derest is above all a blues singer / harmonica player.
He has played for a long time in many blues rock bands and settled in 1998 in Haute-Savoie. He then became the harmonica player of Flyroad, of Catfish Blues Band and participated in numerous recordings for the label rock on studio (Johnny Cat).
He records for artists like John Plaine and rock artists from Le Havre.
He has been absent from the blues world for a few years to work with artists from Mali (Kassoum Coulibaly from the Toubafine group) and also worked with Jean-Marie Nseko Baguetta from Kinshasa with the Congolese group Banalokolé Musica. He also participated in sessions with the Malagasy trio Ts’manavak.
Currently, Phil Derest is the leader of the group Rompstomp (voodoo screamin ’blues), present on current blues scenes and in which he comes back, highlighting a certain trans blues rock.
