Stéphane Laidet was born into a small family of musicians. He started the harmonica at the age of 16 and let curiosity and chance guide him to different music. This led him to Chicago electric blues, funk and soul music, rap, African music in general, waltz, then to the Caribbean coasts, Latin music, bolero, son montuno, vallenato Colombian and finally towards the Spanish coast through flamenco. Stéphane has lived in Spain in Barcelona for 25 years.
He was a harmonicist, among others, of the Franco-Spanish group Color Humano and, in the early 90s, of the French group Bønana.
He has been working for 17 years as an actor, musician, composer and creator of soundscapes for “El Teatro de los Sentidos”, an immersive theater in which the spectator lives the story as an experience, in first person.
He was an artistic producer and beatmaker in the studio in Spain and Senegal and on stage for ten years in rap groups, in particular with Black Baudelaire.
He published under his name a first disc, “Del amor y del juego”, travels through different Latin and French styles and a certain theatrical color, played with double bass, classical and flamenco guitar, violins, orchestral harmonicas and Yonberg diatonic harmonicas. His second acoustic disc is recorded live with “Le petit Comité”, Pancho Garcia classical guitar, Paco Bastida, flamenco guitar and Joangerard Torredeflot on violin, released in May 2022.
The diatonic harmonica hides unsuspected territories. This tiny instrument is going through a moment of great revolution, a bit like a map on which we discover blank spaces, virgin lands! It’s exciting, it makes you want to go on a journey of musical exploration and the harmonica is a good travel companion!
